Christmas in spring? It is never too early to start planning for the holidays. In this workshop, you learn how to knit a Christmas stocking, personalized with a name and the Nordic design of your choosing. You have the option of making a 3-color stocking or 2-color stocking. Skills covered in this workshop include seamless toe-up sock construction, stranded knitting, working an afterthought heel, knitting intarsia in the round, and an i-cord bind-off edging. These stockings are so interesting and fun, you’ll want to knit more than one. Want to knit a Hanukkah stocking? Oy vey… okayyyy, we designed our very own Hanukkah stocking with dreidels and Stars of David.

This workshop runs for 4 sessions over 8 weeks. The first session will walk you through casting on and working the toe box. The second session with cover stranded knitting and set up for afterthought heel. The third session will cover knitting intarsia in the round. And the fourth session will complete the afterthought heel and i-cord edging. This workshop is limited to 8 students. (Instructor: Lynne)

Session 1: Sunday, April 19th 10-12pm (2 hour session)
Session 2: Sunday, May 3rd 9-12pm (3 hour session)
Session 3: Sunday, May 31st 9-12pm (3 hour session)
Session 4: Sunday, June 14th 9-12 (3 hour session)

Prerequisite Skills:
• Students must be proficient with knitting in the round, increasing, and decreasing.
• Prior experience with stranded knitting is helpful but not necessary.
Materials for fingering weight stocking:

Materials for fingering weight stocking:
• Pattern: A Collection of Three Christmas Stockings (Student must purchase pattern directly from Ravelry)
• Jamieson’s Spindrift
• 2 skeins background color and 3 skeins foreground color or 2 skeins foreground color and 1 skein accent color
• US size 2 12” circular needle
• US size 2 Flexiflips
• 3 stitch markers (1 should be a locking stitch marker)
• Approximately 6” length of a cotton (or other smooth yarn) fingering weight piece of waste yarn
• Marking tape
• Pencil

Materials for DK weight stocking (for experienced stranded knitting students only):
• Pattern: A Collection of Three Christmas Stockings (Student must purchase pattern directly from Ravelry)
• Jamieson’s DK (Colors limited to: Crimson, Celtic, and Natural White)
• 2 skeins background color and 3 skeins foreground color or 2 skeins foreground color and 1 skein accent color
• US size 1 12” circular needle
• US size 1 Flexiflips
• 3 stitch markers (1 should be a locking stitch marker)
• Approximately 6” length of a cotton (or other smooth yarn) dk weight piece of waste yarn
• Marking tape
• Pencil
