Double Knitting creates a warm, completely reversible two sided fabric that can be used to make hats, scarves, sweaters…the possibilities are endless once you learn the technique. This workshop will cover all the things you need to know to get started on your double knitting adventure including two color cast on and bind off, how to read a double knit chart, and how to fix your mistakes. You will practice these skills by making a heart ornament then casting on and starting the Love is Actually All Around Cowl. This is an appropriate class for a first time Double Knitting student. (Instructor: Lynne)

Prerequisite Skills: long-tail cast on and being comfortable knitting in the round

Materials:
  • 2 100 gram skeins of DK weight yarn in contrasting colors
  • US size 6 needles 24” circular needles
  • Scissors
  • 4 locking stitch markers
  • 2 stitch holders
  • US size E crochet hook
  • Darning needle.
Homework (to be brought to the workshop): Make 2 swatches in different colors in stockinette stitch. The swatches should be 20 stitches X approximately 2 inches. Do not bind off your swatches! Leave them on stitch holders, waste yarn, or needles.

  • It is critical to have your prep work completed prior to class in order for you to get the most out of this workshop.

  • Yarn for this workshop must be purchased from our store and will receive a 10% discount.
  • Your workshop will break for lunch at 12noon. Please bring or feel free to run out and pickup your lunch. Water, coffee and tea are complimentary. Your workshop will resume at 1pm.
